A Rose in Rose Street Edinburgh
Rose Street built 1770-1781, was designed by James Craig as one of the streets in the New Town of Edinburgh. It’s a narrow street running parallel between Princes Street and George Street. Now a shopping street and well known for its great many bars and public houses. Rose street has the English emblem while Thistle Street was named after the Scottish emblem. Rose Street was pedestrianised in 1980’s and 8 different roses designed by artist Maggie Howarth were laid. Unfortunately some roses became badly damaged and sadly are now covered by tar-mac.
