Steam winding engine, Lingerwood Colliery
Derelict since 1967 and scrapped in 1983. An interesting mixture of traditional (four bar guides) and modern (drop valves above and below the cylinders). It was in quite a state and the security man from Lady Victoria took me across and let me do my stuff.

Newtongrange
This picture shows a reminder of what built this village the Lady Victoria Colliery which is now the Scottish Mining Museum. The village was built by the Lothian Coal Company vand became the largest pit village in Scotland. In recent years the village has been rejuvenated and the old miners cottages of which there are rows and rows have been lovingly restored
