Water Tower
The tower and elaborate tank were built in 1878-1879 by James Leslie (1801-1889) at the behest of the town council to supply water to the burgh. It held 12,000 gallons (54,553 litres) of water. It as now been converted to a curious and interesting private house.

War Memorial
The substantial war memorial is topped with a crown spire. Designed by local architect James Pearson Alison (1862-1932) it was unveiled on 28 June 1921.
