Carved boulder in Wallyford bing site
This bas-relief carving of the head of a miner hold a miner's lamp was carved by Shaun Williamson in 1998 and forms part of the sculpture trail on the site of an old bing at Wallyford, East Lothian. The site was redeveloped for the use of the community by the Edinburgh Green Belt Trust.

Distribution road, Wallyford
Filling in between Wallyford and the A1. Western East Lothian is being urbanised but I fear there is insufficient infrastructure. Work is in Edinburgh or beyond, the railway and bypass are already full. Meanwhile in the city, homes are becoming distributed hotels.

Wallyford Colliery site.
Looking across the square from up on Falside Hill to Wallyford, a mining village. The wooded area is the site of the Wallyford Colliery. The A1 dual carriageway is out of sight, behind the hill with the wheat field.

Brickworks site, Wallyford
Wooded bing beside what was a brickworks and before that a colliery. The woodland is on the site of the quarry used to supply the brickworks. Taken from the distribution road for the big housing development between Wallyford and the A1.
