Sluice gate serving former Esk Mills
Now restored as a business centre and wedding venue, Esk Mills was a cotton and rope mill dating from the 1800s. The sluice gate controlled the flow of water to the mill. The dam provided a head of water and a steady flow in times when the river was low.
