Coade Stone Pillars
These pillars were rescued from a garden in the area and set up here in a community garden in 2006. They are made from Coade stone, an artificial stone invented and manufactured by Mrs Eleanor Coade (1773-1821). This is smooth grained and impervious to atmospheric pollution retaining its fresh appearance. The design on the smaller pillars is identical to those on the chimneys of Dalmeny House, South Queensferry, seat of the Earl of Rosebery.
