Horse Chestnut at Abercorn Park
A closer view of Image, to show detail of the horseshoe-shaped leaf scars. See especially on the twig on the right, and the second from the left. The small dots [3 on the right, and 4 visible on the left], are the scars of the vascular bundles which are sealed off as a result of the 'abscission' [leaf fall] process.
