The Cockit Hat
A 'cockit' hat is Scots for a cocked hat, which has opposing rims turned up and caught together to give two or three points. This is the latter - a tricorn - and refers to the shape of a small triangular woodland planted at the junction of Redford Road and Oxgangs Road North.

It's actually former church; it looks very abandoned, the doors of the hall next door are boarded up, and the Lord's weeds are taking advantage of the absence of the Lord's faithful to spring up between the paving stones.
