The Cockit Hat
A 'cockit' hat is Scots for a cocked hat, which has opposing rims turned up and caught together to give two or three points. This is the latter - a tricorn - and refers to the shape of a small triangular woodland planted at the junction of Redford Road and Oxgangs Road North.

Hunter's Tryst, Swanston
This has been an important meeting of routes into Edinburgh from the Pentland Hills since ancient times. Today it is lost within the city's suburbs. The locals pronounce Tryst to rhyme with iced, not missed.
