Over the years this elevated shopping street has moved more towards coffee shops and bars. The newsagent has been there quite a while. Taken from where the bridge crosses Merchant Street.

George IV Bridge
This particularly loathed monarch gets a good rap in Edinburgh on account of being the first post-Stuart king to visit Scotland. This really is a bridge, spanning the Cowgate and the shop fronts are several floors up from the ground.
