Shops and cafes, George IV Bridge
Over the years this elevated shopping street has moved more towards coffee shops and bars. The newsagent has been there quite a while. Taken from where the bridge crosses Merchant Street.

Edinburgh Townscape : Clock On George IV Bridge
This fine clock brings to mind images of a night-time street scene in a 1930's / 40's film noir - the illuminated panels reflected in the glistening wet pavement. Welcome to Chandlertown.

Taken from Holyrood Park: on the silhouette of the city, the Castle can be seen to the right and the crown of the Cathedral further left. Immediately below the largest balloon is the spire of the Tron Kirk.

George IV Bridge
This particularly loathed monarch gets a good rap in Edinburgh on account of being the first post-Stuart king to visit Scotland. This really is a bridge, spanning the Cowgate and the shop fronts are several floors up from the ground.
