Urban wildlife
This part of the Union Canal was recently reopened (it had been completely filled in) and was immediately occupied by a bevy of swans.

Union Canal, Wester Hailes.
When they built the big Wester Hailes housing scheme the canal was destroyed severing the link with central Edinburgh and ending a long history of navigation.
Now boats are back, the canal was redug through the houses and is a real improvement to the area with wildlife and recreational use.

Unoccupied and boarded up. Adjacent to the Sighthill tower blocks to be demolished on 25 September. These will presumably go at a later date.

Sighthill Bank
All that remains of the Sighthill tower blocks and associated lower rise housing. Some still have curtains showing, but many are boarded up, and will presumably be gone before long. Napier University and Stevenson College buildings are behind them.

A Last Reflection
Looking like a giant tv or video screen, the windows of a tower block reflect the last sunset on Hermiston Court, one of the three 17 storey Sighthill tower blocks being demolished the next day.
