Minster Court from Hay's Galleria
A view across the Thames from the northern end of Hay's Galleria looking at the city. Top left can be seen a flank of 30 St Mary Axe, more commonly known as The Gherkin. In the foreground the colonnaded cream building is The Custom House flying the Union flag. But the central building with steeply pitched gables is the "Post-modernist Gothic" 1 Minster Court on Mincing Lane. Personally I think that this is a phenomenal bit of architecture, but one that is hardly mentioned compared to the aforementioned Gherkin, or the Shard. Perhaps this is because it doesn't achieve their height - it is however one of the most noticeable and unusual buildings of the City skyline. It is part of a vast complex as in addition to the tall spiky building, there are also the ones to its right in similar stone. Collectively they comprise Nos. 1,2 & 3 Minster Court. They were built between 1991 and 1992 and were designed by architects GMW Partnership http://www.gmw-architects.com
