View from The Monument - northeast
311 steps and 202 feet high, The Monument commemorates the Great Fire of London that started in Pudding Lane just the same number of feet away. The view from here is not as extensive as from the Golden Gallery at St Paul's cathedral, but is different and more intimate to the surrounds of the City of London. For the next view see Image]

Talbot Court
Another view of Image, including the covered passageway by which it leads off Eastcheap. From John Strype's 'A survey of the cities of London and Westminster' (1603): "Talbot Court, seated in Little Eastcheap, a large and well inhabited Place. Out of which a narrow Passage leadeth into another handsome Court which hath an Entrance into Grasschurch Street. http://www.hrionline.ac.uk/strype/TransformServlet?page=book2_173 . Conspicuous these days is The Ship Inn. The entrance is on the right of the scene in Image Mmm, spent a while at that bus stop in the last month or two!

View of Recycle Group's "Falling Into Virtual Reality" from Leadenhall Market
Recycle Group reflects on how time will take its toll on future generations, what artefacts archaeologists will find after we are gone, and whether these artefacts will find their place within culture. As their name suggests, the duo is concerned about the rising level of material waste as a result of widespread consumerism, creating work through the use of recycled materials (in this case, plastic mesh). The artists’ installation created for Sculpture in the City features a scene of a person falling into the virtual world. The mobile gadgets act as an emphasis that technology has on the modern world and questions yet again the idea of virtual archaeology. The work is inspired by the novel, Simulacron 3 (1964). Looking south-southwest.

Number 15 on Eastcheap
Rather than a Routemaster, this is a Trident with Alexander body. Paddington Basin makes for an interesting destination. City workers hurry to their meetings.
