View of the Heron Tower and Tower 42 from South Place
This view has changed so much over the last 6 years I didn't recognise it from the Streetview (see https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Ropemaker+St/@51.519136,-0.087347,3a,75y,165.31h,105.26t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sBCyr8t3JAv_SuZ-CJ03Mbw!2e0!4m2!3m1!1s0x48761cabe5517883:0xcdad2ecccc500599). A small office block has been demolished, leaving this gap in the buildings from which you can see Tower 42. Ryness, which can be seen in the bottom right hand corner, used to be a Jessops store. Looking south-southwest.

Finsbury Circus, EC2 (5)
The casual observer will note how the architects of the modern building (nearest the camera) have over-exerted themselves to ensure that it blends seamlessly with the older building beyond. The frontage is curved, but it stands slightly further forward than that of the older building. The unadorned, some might say clinical, stone cladding (well, at least it is stone) contrasts starkly with the ornamented front to its left. The two sets of high, narrow windows and the (horizontal) window lines completely fail to respect those of the older building. Truly a Masterpiece of Modern Architecture.

Taken from the 6th floor of South Place Hotel. Why all these lights are on at 7-30am is anyone's guess?

Finsbury Circus
The City of London's largest public open space, Finsbury Circus is home to the City of London Bowling Club. The name 'Finsbury' derives from a fen formed after culverts were blocked following the end of the Roman period. Later the site became London's first public park in the 17th century.
