34-36 St John Street
One of the best of the surprisingly ornate and extravagant C19th commercial and industrial buildings in this area. This was built for George Farmiloe and Sons, lead and glass manufacturers, in 1868 and was designed by Lewis Isaacs. Italianate with pilaster strips or quoins at the angles, granite columns, and richly-decorated window-heads and cornice (Image]). There is also a large range behind, and some of the interiors have survived. Grade II listed. In recent years it has built an illustrious new career as a film set (http://londonist.com/2010/03/inside_the_hidden_film_set_of_smith.php )
