Sewardstone: Ashbrook Court Care Home, E4
In order to cater for the country's changing demographics there is an increasing need for care homes for the elderly. Ashbrook Court would have been built in response to that demand. The care home's website is here http://www.ashbrookcourtcarehome.co.uk/index.asp?menu=0&id=4951 The former England football team manager Terry Venables performed the opening ceremony in 2006, the home having been built on land belonging to his family. Bizarrely, given that Sewardstone is in rural west Essex, it is within the London postal area E4, which you would be forgiven for thinking was in or near the City of London. Sewardstone is about 19 kilometres, or about 12 miles, as the crow flies, from Charing Cross.
