The Red Lion, 23 Lawnswood Road, Wordsley, Stourbridge
A large Marston's pub, which is a popular local community pub. Behind it is Wordsley Green Shopping Centre. Currently the pub continues to carry the Banks's branding, with the familiar golden lion sign outside. Update November 2013:- Since this photograph was taken the building has been leased to Sainsbury's and is now a convenience store. See:- Image

Sainsbury's Local (formerly the Red Lion), 23 Lawnswood Road, Wordsley, Stourbridge
This former public house has suffered the increasingly common fate of being turned into a convenience store. The owners, Marston's, have leased the building to the supermarket giant Sainsbury's. Surprisingly the upper floor has been mothballed, which in my view is rather sad when there are a large number of people desperate for somewhere to live. A view taken in October 2011 when it was a public house:- Image

The New Inn (1), 117 High Street, Wordsley, Stourbridge
One of the small number of pubs owned by Bathams, the famous family run Black Country brewers. Although most of the pubs are in and around the Black Country, one is in North Wales. The New Inn only became a Bathams pub in April 2008. Image Image

The New Inn (2) - sign, 117 High Street, Wordsley, Stourbridge
Records show that the building had become a pub by the 1820's, possibly earlier, and certainly it is older than that. The brewery, Bathams, suggest it may perhaps have once been a farmhouse. The pub sign shows a group of people who appear to be in 17th century dress. Image Image

Bet Centre, 1 Wordsley Green Shopping Centre, Wordsley, Stourbridge
This betting shop is in what used to be the local post office. That seems to have relocated to 11 Wordsley Green Shopping Centre. To the left of the betting shop is a hairdressers and a window and door replacement business.
