A residential road, off Enville Street (the A458).

A very popular pub named after the present owner's grandmother. It is on the corner of Enville Street and Mamble Road, and is one of several to be found along Enville Street. The pub has an interesting website, which includes detailed research on the pub's history by John Richards. According to this, the pub started out as a one-roomed beerhouse in the 1840's. It was known as The Golden Lion. It was in competition with a pub opposite, known as the Bridge Inn, which no longer exists. Both brewed their own beer. From August 1989, for a few years, it was known as The Stourbridge Lion. Today under its present name, the pub offers a range of beers and frequent live music. Image

As the pub is named after the present owner's grandmother, the photograph on the sign presumably shows her grandparents. The musical instruments beneath, indicate this pub frequently has live music. Image

Situated near to the back of houses in Foster Place and adjacent to this lane which leads into Foster Place.

This is the A458 Stourbridge to Bridgnorth Road. Here is it called Enville Street, but later, as it passes through the Wollaston area, it is known as Bridgnorth Road. On the left can be glimpsed the Wollaston Fish Too shop Image In the far distant on the left are three storey blocks of apartments. All along Enville Street and Bridgnorth Road there is still a generous selection of pubs.

Public houses in the West Midlands area seem to play a kind of musical chairs. While one opens under new management, another closes permanently or temporarily. The unusually named Cottage Spring was closed for a while but has now re-opened under new management. They do have their own car park unlike some of the many other pubs nearby and part of this can be seen in this view. Very many years ago there seems to have been a brewery at these premises known as John & Horace G. Pearson. The brewery owned or supplied beer to at least one other pub, The Plough at 154 Bridgnorth Road Wollaston, which still exists. Parish church of St James Wollaston Stourbridge

This old pub was for most of its life known as Cottage Spring. At one time there was a brewery here, and the pub was also one of those that used to have its own bowling green. In recent years it has experienced temporary closure, changes in management and a decline in business. Recently it has changed hands yet again, and re-opened as Graham's Place. The pub has been given a much-needed facelift, and modernised inside. This seems to have revived its popularity, so hopefully it has a long-term future. How the pub looked before the recent changes.
