Mike Graham, 8 Market Street, Stourbridge
Local butcher in the town centre. The building has rather unusual architecture. Since this photograph was taken the business has relocated to 8-12 Crown Lane.

The Bell (1), 20 Market Street, Stourbridge
Located on the corner of Market Street and Bell Street, The Bell opened in 1820 and was originally a coaching inn and later a hotel. It has since been a public house and for a while a night club. At one time it had its own stables and a bowling green. After a few years of closure, planning permission was given in late 2019 for the conversion of the property into residential apartments. Image

The Bell (2) - sign, 20 Market Street, Stourbridge
Often the name of The Bell reflected the close association that the church had with inns and taverns in the past and particularly in medieval times. Although this former public house dates from 1820 and not the medieval period, it is interesting that it is very near the Church of St. Thomas. In times past it was very common for a pub to be near a church. Image

Stourbridge Town Hall
Stourbridge Town Hall was built in 1887 and designed by Thomas Robinson. Pevsner describes it as 'quite big, but unspectacularly placed'. I have to agree, tucked away on the relatively narrow Market Street. The building is Grade II listed, see: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1251260?section=official-list-entry
