Site of the former New Manor, 76 Minster Road, Stourport-on-Severn
Blink an eye, and another public house in the Wyre Forest District has been closed or demolished. Behind the hedge is the site of the former New Manor pub, recently demolished. The pile of rubble was the pub building. The contractors haven't yet got around to the sign, which still remains on its post. More photos:- Image, and Image

The closed New Manor public house, 76 Minster Road
Another Stourport pub bites the dust. This one was photographed in November 2009 but closed some weeks earlier. All the windows and doors are covered in metal sheeting, and it bears a "For Sale" sign. It would be nice to see this one re-open, but at the current asking price of £445,000 for the freehold, you would need to feel pretty confident you could make a go of it. The agents say that it possibly could be used for something else, subject to planning permission. For a picture of the pub when open please see:- Image Update (October 2011):- The pub was recently demolished. See:- Image

The New Manor, 76 Minster Road
A large pub, with a large car park, on the corner of Minster Road and Manor Road. It was built in the mid-20th century, mainly to serve residents of the adjacent Manor Estate, which was built in the 1930's. The pub has a beer garden and live entertainment usually on Wednesdays. It is now the only pub in Minster Road, following the closure and demolition of the Brindley Arms (not to be confused with the very much still open Brinton Arms in Bewdley Road). Image Update (October 2011):- After two years of closure, the pub has been demolished to make way for new housing. See:- Image

The postbox is near the junction with Minster Road, which can be seen in the distance. The postbox was probably placed here in the late 1940's or very early 1950's, when the local authority developed a small estate around here. The location of the box can also be seen in this view:- Image Postbox number:- DY13 246. Post code:- DY13 9**. Last collection:- 6.45 pm Monday to Friday; 11.15 am Saturday.

A pile of rubble, formerly the New Manor public house, Stourport-on-Severn
After being empty for about two years, and up for sale, the pub has recently been demolished, and this is more or less all that remains of it. The land it stood on is apparently going to be used for residential development, a fate typical for former pubs. More photos: Image, and Image Towards the end of its life, in January 2009, it looked like this:- Image
