A stranger in town, Dudley 1966
A feature of trolleybus systems in the late 1960s was a number of special tours operated with preserved trolleybuses. Former Huddersfield trolleybus 541, owned by the National Trolleybus Association, was the first preserved trolleybus to be restored to workable condition and permitted to run on publicly owned trolleybus systems. This was its very first outing, running on the last remaining route of the once extensive Wolverhampton system. It is seen at the terminus of the route at Stone Street, Dudley; its poles have been removed from the wires to allow the normal service trolleybus to pass.
