Manor Farmhouse - Trent
Grade II listed detached farmhouse, dated 1660, with a range to the rear of the C18, and with C20 restoration. The owner told me the main property was originally thatched, as many such houses were, traces of which were found in the roof void (note the parapet at the gable ends to contain the thatch). In more recent times, the thatch was replaced with Welsh slates, the stone tiles at the bottom of the roof being retained. Stone tiles were mostly used here in Dorset just at the eaves, where the load bearing supporting walls could take their weight.

Trent: the post office
This used also to be a village store but its shop floor is just now an empty space, while the glass post office counter remains in the corner where it always was. The office is open four hours a week - see Image
