Griffin, Compton House
This is one of a pair of griffins in niches in the wall opposite the lodge to Compton House. The leaves in its mouth looked as if they had just been picked that morning and stuffed in, but they were identical on both carvings so presumably they are copper or painted stone.

Lodge, Over Compton House
Presumably built in 1839 at the same time as the main house which is behind the bushes to the left of the lodge.

Before its conversion into flats, the house was owned by Robert Gooden, who opened a butterfly display here, called Worldwide Butterflies.

Compton House
Built by John Pinch the younger of Bath in 1839. It is constructed of Ham Hill rubble and ashlar in a tudor style.

The church of St Michael, and Compton House, Over Compton
The church is Grade I listed, with the earliest parts dating from the 15th century, and restored in the 19th century. The house is a Grade II listed manor house largely rebuilt (in mid-16th century style) after a fire in the mid 19th century, and is now apartments.
