Robert Goodden monument - Over Compton parish church
The life- size statue of Robert Goodden dominates the north chapel of St Michael's church in Over Compton. He was both the architect and patron of this Regency period church that was completely refurbished in 1821-22. His incredibly life-like statue was erected in 1825 where it remained in-situ boarded up. He left instructions that it was not to be revealed to the public gaze until one year after his death which occurred in 1828.
