The George Inn, Easton
The inn originally began as a row of cottages built in the seventeenth century; a century later, they were converted into one as premises for the church clerk (a date stone of 1765 marks the event and renaming to Clerk's House). However, in the nineteenth century it was converted into the George Inn and is one of the oldest buildings on Portland. It became a popular haunt for the Court Leet and the oddly-arranged pub has the Quarr Bar, the Reeve Bar, the Shilling Bar and the Cricket Room - used by the team that play on the wicket directly opposite! Grade II listed.
