Grove, The Clifton
Freehouse with accommodation on Grove Road. Central bar, with drinking and eating areas left, front and right; some internal stone walls, TV, pool, darts, dining room, garden. Cask ales on offer at my visit: Cobb Bitter, Mild, Wychwood Hobgoblin; also three draught ciders.

The churchyard at St Peter's, Grove, Portland
This is high up on the plateau of Portland, with the open sea barely a mile away to the west, and the trees have learnt to lean with the prevailing wind. (The sea is even nearer going east, but that's not where the worst of the winds come from).

St Peter's Church, with prison fence on the left
Built in 1870-72 using convict labour, the church became redundant in 1973, though still used as a chapel for the prison until 1988, and is now in private hands, with the building in the process of restoration. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Peter%27s_Church,_Portland

St Peter's Church, The Grove, Portland
This church was built by prisoners, housed at the nearby Grove Prison, who also worked on the Portland Harbour breakwater. It was completed 1872. Now redundant, and not open to the public, it is privately owned.
