Monument 1785, by James Wyatt. Coade stone. Monument in the form of a triangular pedestal with concave sides supported on 3 tortoises and crowned by an urn. 2 circular steps rise to a double plinth and gadrooned base upon which stand 3 tortoises. From these creatures rises a fluted concave base from which the pedestal ascends. On one concave face of the pedestal is a panel inscribed. 'Erected by the first Baron Yarborough. To the memory of George Holgate of Melton, a tenant and friend who as a mark of gratitude and regard bequeathed to him a small estateat Cadney and who deserves to be remembered in the class of farmers as a most excellent character, entirely free from affectation of anything above that respectable station in life to which he was so great a credit.' On the other 2 sides are panels depicting a mourning figure and a seated Annona holding wheat ears. Above is an entablature and blocking course rising to an urn with gadrooned base, bent fluted upper part and flaring rim bearing branches and foliage in bas relief.
