North Thoresby heritage railway station, Lincolnshire Wolds Railway: aerial 2017
Lincolnshire Wolds Railway: see https://lincolnshirewoldsrailway.co.uk/history-of-lwr Railway was previously the East Lincolnshire line, operated by the Great Northern Railway Company. In 1923 the latter became part of the London Northern Eastern Railway (LNER), and in 1948 the line became part of British Railways following nationalisation. It closed finally in 1980. After the last section of line was closed by BR in 1980, the preservation society was formed with the aim of restoring it, and it presently runs to here from Ludborough.

North Thoresby old platform
The old platform and weedy track bed of the disused Louth to Grimsby Line contrast with the restored station a hundred yards beyond. The new white gate of the level crossing is just visible.

Station House and aspiring trains
Until recently, these trains were all there was to remind you of the Louth-Grimsby line at North Thoresby. The house is very smart, in contrast to the weedy track of the disused railway. Look the other side of the road at the restored section (and the real train) in Image and Image
