Cleethorpes Promenade
Spring bank holiday, and plenty of visitors to this seaside town on the Humber estuary. But the dull skies and cold, near gale force easterly winds meant that most of them viewed the scenery from the comfort of their cars, and only a few hardy souls ventured on to the beach.

Oops! Oole at sea!
With all the cutbacks, perhaps they should have fixed the old sign rather than erect a new one. Oole is one of the Thorpes of Clee. Before becoming a unified town, Cleethorpes was made up of three small villages, or "thorpes": Itterby, Oole and Thrunscoe, which were part of a wider parish called Clee.
