The crossing keepers house is now a private residence that would have once housed the crossing keeper. The level crossing would have been operated by hand in the days before the bridge was built. The railway line is the East coast mainline, taken at 75mph behind a steam engine.

A pair of cottages at the level crossing. This might well have been for the local lengthsman as well as the crossing keeper. Normally there is only a single cottage at a level crossing.
