Footbridge over the railway at Thrumpton Lane
The length of the bridge is a reminder that there was formerly far more rail traffic than now. The housing on the right is on the site of the former Great Central Railway locomotive shed, accessed under the near span, while the far span crossed sidings in addition to the two current tracks. With the traffic reduction, the crossing is hardly closed for long enough to justify the extra effort in climbing up and down the steps. It's nevertheless an excellent photgraher's viewpoint.
