There has been a hall on this site since 1390 though the current facade is of 1637 by William Fiennes, Viscount Saye and Sele who brought the Brumby Estate for his son Nathaniel and his wife.

Brumby Hall, Scunthorpe
Pevsner says "BRUMBY HALL, one of the few old and worthwhile domestic buildings in Scunthorpe. It was bought in the 1630s by William Fiennes, who proceeded to rebuild it. It has a three-storey c17 porch with pilasters, strapwork motifs, and a sundial dated 1637. The house was extended E and W in the c18. In 1798 George Pycock of Hull carried out alterations. His is the fine ceiling of the staircase hall. The staircase itself with closed string, ramped handrail, and turned balusters looks earlier. A Venetian window probably by Pycock lights the staircase.".
