St.John's church was declared redundant in 1984 and remained derelict until rescued in 2000 as part of the 20-21 Visual Arts Centre http://www.northlincs.gov.uk/NorthLincs/leisure/arts/20-21VisualArtsCentre/

The former church of St. John the Evangelist. Dates from 1891. Designed by J.S. Crowther and paid for by Lord St. Oswald who owned much of the land on which Scunthorpe was built. The extension which was part of its conversion to an arts centre can be seen going off to the left.
