Dutch River Bridge
The bridge carries the railway route south-west from Goole, over the 'Dutch River'. Dutch River is the name given to the waters of the River Don which were diverted, massively, to join the River Ouse at Goole instead of following their original course which fed into the River Trent. The work was carried out by the Dutch engineer, Cornelius Vermuyden, hence the name.
