Lane with two names
The name Vicarage Lane does not appear on maps before the middle of the 20th century. Tetheringrass Lane is still so named beyond the railway crossing.

Wooden Gates Crossing
This wooden gated level crossing is secured with a chain with at least four padlocks forming its links. I assume this is to allow multiple local users access to their land at the other side of the line.

View from the foot crossing at Tetheringrass Lane
The line between Doncaster and Gainsborough was opened in 1867. Since then all the intervening stations have been closed but the line itself is still open and busy. This view is from Tetheringrass Lane which is a track to the north-east of Beckingham heading out into the fields.
