Middleham houses [19]
Clarendon House, Market Place, was built in the mid 18th century. Constructed of rendered rubble stone with ashlar dressings under a stone slate roof. On the left is a lower range of one bay. In the front of the house is a low wall supporting wrought-iron railings. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1179058 Middleham is a market town in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire. It lies on the south bank of the River Ure in Wensleydale, some 2 miles southeast of Leyburn. There has been a settlement here since Roman times. Today, Middleham is a centre of horse racing. The massive, ruinous Middleham Castle, one of the childhood homes of Richard III, dominates the town.
