Thoralby Village Hall [2]
The street frontage of Thoralby village hall is quite different to the side facing the car park [see other photo], as here is an early 18th century porch on what was presumably a village farmhouse. The porch is dated 1704 and has the initials MS.

Converted chapel, Thoralby
Standing just across the road from the 1889 Methodist chapel is this dwelling, which is also a converted chapel. There is no clue as to its date or denomination on the building, but an early edition OS map marks it as a Wesleyan Methodist chapel, so it is likely that this was the original chapel in the village.

Thoralby Village Hall
This modest little hall looks to be 19th century, judging by this view of the main entrance from the car park [see other photo].

Village house, Thoralby
A typical dales village house, this one bearing a date of 1653 and the initials IB. Initials and dates over doorways are quite common in the Wensleydale area, particularly on 17th and 18th century houses. They often represent the christian name initials of the first married couple to have lived there.

Former chapel, Thoralby
The inscription over the door reads 'Methodist Chapel 1889', but the building is now a private house.
