Telephone box, Ainderby Steeple
A K6 style telephone box stands at the far end of the village green.
In 1935, the Post Office commissioned a new kiosk from Sir Giles Gilbert Scott to celebrate the Jubilee of King George V. The K6 Jubilee Kiosk, as it is known, was similar to the K2 box, being made of cast iron and painted red but was 25% lighter in weight. By the end of the 1930s there were 20,000 K6 telephone boxes in use all over the UK.

Old milepost
Surveyed by the Milestone Society. This post on the village green in Ainderby Steeple on the A684 is one of only two of this design now known about. Four milepost designs were cast at the Mattisons of Bedale foundry that was in Leeming Bar. The premises are now occupied by H Gill & Sons. It operated between 1851 and 1937 and cast many different agricultural, domestic and general iron products.

Street furniture, Ainderby Steeple
The village is blessed with a pretty village green but the bus shelter and its attendants give the area a bit of a neglected look.
