The original Pacer
If you have ever suffered from travelling on one of the unsprung "Pacer" diesel trains over the last 35 years, it is the guys at the Railway Technical Centre you can blame. This was their 1975 prototype "railbus" (also called the LEV1 for "Light Experimental Vehicle") developed with Leyland Motors from a single-decker bus. It belongs to the Science Museum but is kept at the Wensleydale Railway.

Leeming Bar station - a sick "teddy bear"
This diesel locomotive, D9523, apparently nicknamed "the Teddy Bear", had been rostered to haul a passenger train on the Wensleydale Railway's diesel gala weekend, but the gearbox failed and it had to be substituted at the last minute.
