The offices of solicitors Hunt & Wrigley on the corner have an OS benchmark Image on the Friarage Street face.

Exceptionally heavy rain has caused flooding here and in other parts of the town.

Viewed from the floral roundabout celebrating the centenary of The Scouts. Friarage Street is quite short leading towards the Friarage Hospital which built on the 14th century religious house built by the Carmelite Friars. The bollards along the wide pavement indicate the edge of the now enclosed Sun Beck much enjoyed by adventurous children (and one in particular around 1960 !).

This building is easily overlooked and is passed by hundreds of pedestrians every week, who's only interest might be in the retail premises on the ground floor. This was once a fine house of circa 1754 and is attributed to John Carr who was responsible for many of the finest houses in York and for such as Harewood House. The original ground floor windows, door and decorative railings have long gone, but the house still has a Grade II* rating which dates back to 1952.

My first visit and the town looks lovely.
