Northallerton station - approaching London train
Driving trailer 82203 at the head of the 16.00 Edinburgh to Kings Cross, about to call at Northallerton. Since May 2018 the service had been run as "London North Eastern Railway" but the trains were mostly still in Virgin livery.

Northallerton station - sidings
All that is left of the railway yards at Northallerton (apart from the avoiding line taken by non-stop trains to Middlesbrough) is this pair of sidings on the up side just north of the station. An old map shows them to have been factory sidings originally, with a loading platform (probably never used for passenger trains). See the Grid Square Discussion for opinions about what other uses they may have had.

London bound
This train to London was following hard on the heels of a freight train and was about 4 minutes behind advertised time on leaving. (Note: officially a train is not late unless it is at least 5 minutes after its booked time, which isn't necessarily the time advertised to passengers.)
