Old and new in Thrintoft
The old is the chapel in the background. This building dates from 1253 when it was endowed as a chantry chapel belonging to Jervaulx Abbey and dedicated to St Mary Magdalen. It is also grade 2 listed, and at the time of its listing it was described as a barn with a corrugated asbestos roof. Now converted into a dwelling. The house to the left is obviously much newer and is probably post 2000.

Village Street, Thrintoft
A small village with no obvious 'centre'. The main street lacks a church, shop or even rows of cottages. Just a scattering of houses, a pub, a telephone box, a post box and a notice board.
