There is an OS benchmark
Image on a corner stone of the house, the only part of the house wall not covered with pebbledash. It is behind the headlight of the blue car.

Looking from the road on the south side towards Stainthorp Terrace on the north side. The footbridge over Brompton Beck is just visible behind the swing to the right of the large tree.

Stainthorp Terrace (rear view), Water End, Brompton
Another composite panorama of Stainthorp Terrace. The building on the left is an old weaving shed, used by the linen weavers. It was probably built before 1821, because one of my ancestors mentioned it in his will when he died that year. Brompton was famous for its linen, which was woven on handlooms in such sheds until 2 large mills were built later in the 19th century.

Stainthorp Terrace, Water End, Brompton by Northallerton
This is a composite panorama of the houses which comprise Stainthorp Terrace. In the 19th century they were owned by my Stainthorp ancestors (and one is still owned by a family member). Some may have formed a larger house at one time - when my relative was decorating a bedroom in the 1950's she found a bricked-up doorway which would have led to the next house.

Looking downstream from near the ford, with a pleasant green strip either side of the beck, roads either side and houses facing each other across the green.
