The Locomotive, Shildon
Shildon has railway associations dating back to 1825 when the Stockton & Darlington Railway established its works there and so this name for a public house in the town is an obvious one.

Adelaide Street, Shildon
The photographer was drawn to this street as it was the home of his g.g.grandfather. He was an engine-driver in 1836 http://www.g4fas.net/fmff.html and an employee of the Stockton and Darlington Railway Company under the supervision of Timothy Hackworth. This terrace shares its backyards with three other rows which form a rectangular enclosure with access through a single gate. The southern corner is occupied by the Masons' Arms from where the S&DR was officially opened in 1825.

Footpath near the New Masons public house.
This footpath here crossing Byerley Road and then fading into the distance follows the line of the first publicly owned railway, that of the Stockton and Darlington Railway Company. The line was opened for trade on Tuesday the 25th of September 1825. There was still a railway here as late as 1975. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/111168

Houses undergoing renovation
A block of houses in the south of Shildon apparently undergoing renovation, though it's not clear that work is currently progressing. It seems that the pale yellow finish is being applied but progress halted at the pink area which has merchandise slogans dating from an earlier use of the property. There also appears to be a concealed window in that area.
