Old Milepost by the A67, Merrybent
Cast iron post by the A67, in parish of LOW CONISCLIFFE AND MERRYBENT (DARLINGTON District), Merrybent, by No.12, "Cedar Ridge", back of footpath, on South West side of road. Durham county iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 19th/20th century. Inscription reads:- : {hand} / BARNARD / CASTLE / 13 / MILES : : DURHAM COUNTY : : {hand} / DARLINGTON / 3 / MILES : Grade II Listed. The Milepost is located back of footpath on the SouthWest of the road.  Parish of Low Coniscliffe And Merrybent (Darlington District). Cast iron post, Durham county iron casting design, erected by the County Council in the 19/20th Century. Teesdale Way near Merrybent
The Teesdale Way is a 148 km long path which runs from Dufton in Cumbria through to the Tees estuary. Here the path is almost overwhelmed by some giant wild plant related to rhubarb.
