Oaktree Junction : Railbridge
This area was heavily industrialised and once boasted 5 bridges at this spot, Including the Main Line of the Darlington & Stockton Railway 1887, the other bridges were used to transport slag tubs from the Crusher Plant at Middleton-St-George Iron Works 1860-1947.

'Transmitters' bunker, R.A.F. Middleton-St-George
Taken during the photographer's National Service (1960). The building, since demolished was protected by a very thick blast wall with sliding steel doors. Apart from the transmitting equipment the place could be self-sufficient in electrical power and had 'residential' accommodation for the technical staff.

Old railway route close to Oaktree Junction
The stretch of old railway bed meets the still functioning railway route connecting Darlington with Teesside a short way ahead in the image. The stretch in view was part of the Stockton and Darlington Railway, it continued behind the camera position to pass through Darlington, north of the town centre reaching the original station there at North Road.
