Randolph Coke & Chemical Co, booster house.
Sisson twin cylinder high speed engine built in c1957 and driving a Roots type booster. There is a photograph of this from the other side in Colin Bowden - The End of a Revolution; The Last Days of Stationary Steam, Landmark Publishing (2008). This site is very long since flat.

This was a late night shot on a tripod and I've tweaked it considerably. This is the coke oven battery from the pushing side. The device in the distance travels along the broad gauge railway and pushes the red hot coke out into the waiting car on the opposite side of the battery (q.v.). This works was demolished c1984-5 and was flat when I visited c1986.

A very atmospheric late evening shot. This is the delivery side of the battery with the coke car in position. You can see that this is a shot from well inside the works but not in any danger. We arrived at about 1800 and left at about 2230, retiring first to a local "chippie". I haven't been in a coke works for far too many years (Orgreave might have been my last).
