Eden Arms where the West Auckland FC's 'World Cup' once rested.
West Auckland FC won the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy in Italy twice consecutively (1909.1911) and thus got to keep it. The Eden Arms was its first resting place. The building is listed see http://www.durham-pa.gov.uk/durhamcc/K2P.nsf/K2PDetail?readform&PRN=D14047

Manor House, West Auckland
A 1420AD manor, facing the village's West Green and a Victorian Jubilee 'pant' erected in 1897. For most of the twentieth century there was a famed 'West Auckland Brewery' in the outbuildings behind the manor, but by the millennium the brewery had been sold on to a Newcastle based firm and the C15 manor house had become a hotel with the outbuildings being converted to a health spa and extra guest accommodation.

West end of West Auckland
West Auckland is one of the many attractive "green" villages of Durham, although in the case of West Auckland, the village is dominated by the passage of heavy traffic. The A68 is leading off into the distance, the A688 is in the immediate foreground.

The Pant on West Auckland green
