Old properties in Thorngate
Eighteenth century cottages in Thorngate. Number 21 [with three small windows on the second storey] is described as a 'weaver's cottage', no doubt the triple windows once giving light into weaving rooms.

Cheeseborough House, Thorngate
A row of houses terraced on the west side of Thorngate were clearly built at different times as they all have different roof and floor heights. Cheeseborough House has a lower roof than houses either side, but only has two storeys, whereas all the adjacent houses have a low second floor and much lower ceilings, suggesting that this one is the most recent, built as infill between two older houses.
