Footpath sign Gunnerside
Strictly speaking, the east side of the village [east of Gunnerside Beck] is Lodge Green. This footpath sign points the way to one obvious path and two devious ones.

Troutbeck House, Gunnerside
The house has been adorned with many interesting tools and artifacts. No doubt they are to do with the lead mining industry which was carried out extensively in the area. The spade like tool with the cross handle could well be used for cutting turf or peat.
